About the recipe
This recipe contains ingredients that lead to a healthy smoothie drink. It helps control weight without gaining if used as a meal replacement smoothie.
The avocado smoothie for weight loss consists of avocado, banana, chia seeds, and almond milk, which makes a filling smoothie, prevents building appetite, and helps stay full for a long time.
To know the benefits of the ingredients in detail, check out the full post below, in which I am highlighting the pros of each ingredient in detail.
Ingredients
Avocado: Avocado here can be used in fresh or frozen form. Avocado ripens quickly, and the flesh appears too soft, unsuitable for making a smoothie.
In such case, use a frozen avocado if you run out of fresh avocados in your kitchens.
Peel and chop the avocado or scoop out the flesh after cutting it in half and deseeding it.
Scooping out is the best way to use avocado in the drinks.
Banana: Using banana in combination with avocado makes it easy to drink and makes the smoothie rich and creamy.
Banana in the smoothie makes it easy to consume as only avocado can be challenging.
Use fresh or frozen bananas in moderation, as excess consumption can spike calorie levels.
Suggested: banana smoothie for weight loss
Spinach: Spinach, too, is available in fresh or frozen form, and using it while making smoothies is a healthy way of making green drinks.
I am using fresh spinach here to make the smoothie; a handful of spinach leaves is enough to make one serving.
Suggested: spinach smoothie for weight loss
Almond milk: Using unsweetened almond milk is the best option as it contains no added sugars and has fewer calories.
Suggested: almond milk smoothies for weight loss
Chia seeds: Adding them while blending with other ingredients or adding them as a topping are good options.
Suggested:
Ice cubes: Ice cubes are optional, but adding them helps make the smoothie thick and delicious.
Avocado weight loss benefits
Avocados contain high fiber, which helps keep you full and not increase your appetite for long.
Eating or including avocado moderately in diets can help increase metabolic rate and also helps in lowering cholesterol levels.
This particular fruit is high in carbohydrates and contains high calories; therefore, using this fruit in moderation is highly suggested.
Avocados contain healthy fats, which help burn the existing fats present in the body, and using this fruit as a dip, in smoothies, or a salad is a good choice.
To lose belly fat or body fat, avocados are a good food source as they are rich in monounsaturated fats, promoting the body's fat-burning process.
Therefore, eating avocados is a heart-healthy option as they can easily cut down the bad cholesterol in the body.
Are avocados good for losing weight?
Yes, they are rich in unsaturated fats, and these healthy fats help reduce the bad cholesterol in the body and promote fat burning.
Add avocados in smoothies without sugars, and also using them in salads makes healthy meal replacements and helps you keep full because of their rich fiber content.

Almond milk
Almond milk is available in many forms, from purely extracted to added flavors. Buying almond milk containing no added sugars is a healthy option and is a good substitute for regular milk.

Variations and Substitutions
Kale for spinach: Using freshly chopped kale leaves is another best alternative if you do not have spinach handy or want to make a smoothie with kale.
Honey: I am adding a banana to add some creaminess or sweetness to the smoothie but replacing a banana with honey, or maple syrup is another healthy option if you want to skip adding a banana.
Fruit: In place of banana, other low-calorie fruits such as berries and pineapple also can be substituted to add more nutrients to the smoothie.
Yogurt: Adding almond milk is a perfect choice, but replacing almond milk with Greek yogurt if you like to make it with yogurt, as the liquid base is another healthy substitute that works perfectly for the smoothie.
Seeds: I am adding chia seeds to make the smoothie filling but substituting chia seeds with other smoothies, such as flax seeds, is a healthy option too.
Hemp hearts are also an excellent choice to make the smoothie with different variations.
Calories in the avocado smoothie
This recipe has 450 calories, and it is easy to reduce the calories further if you are willing to make it to 350 or 400.

Ingredients to reduce more calories in the smoothie
Banana: Bananas are used only half herein, but one can skip it if you like to make the smoothie calories to around 400.
Chia seeds: Adding a tablespoon of chia seeds can be reduced by using them in teaspoons to lower the calorie count of the smoothie.
Avocado: I use a whole avocado containing around 230 to 240 calories. Therefore, reducing its quantity to ¾ th or ½ can also help cut down the calories and make it to about 300 to 350 calories.
