This KFC style chicken popcorn uses very few ingredients and is coated with bread crumbs and deep-fried in oil. I have used very few spices like paprika, white pepper, soya sauce, egg, marinated the chicken and then deep-fried.

Below are the recipe details on how to make this crispy juicy kfc popcorn chicken with a video procedure.
Ingredients
Boneless chicken: I am using small boneless cubes which are neither too big nor too small. Do not use large pieces for this recipe and this one tastes good only with the boneless cut of the chicken breast.
Wash them well and drain the excess water out from the chicken to coat the pieces well with the spices.
Dry spices: Spices such as salt, red chilli powder or paprika powder, white pepper powder, ginger garlic paste form the spice base to marinate the chicken which infuses amazing flavours after deep-frying.
Egg: To make the chicken soft after frying and not hard this is an essential step. Add little and not let the chicken dominate the egg smell.
Soy sauce: Popcorn chicken is incomplete without this ingredient as this is a close replica of restaurant-style flavours and adding this gives real flavours of the store-bought chicken.
Corn starch and all-purpose flour: To get the texture that appears on the chicken with a coarse texture from the outside and the crunch from the inside bite is because of these ingredients. These are the main ingredients to the marinade along with the egg.
Breadcrumbs: I am using breadcrumbs to give the final coarse look to the chicken and also makes it crunchy from the outside but keeps it juicy from the inside. The coating is necessary to get the required taste.
Step by step procedure
Marinating
- In a bowl, add the boneless chicken, salt, red chilli powder, white powder, corn starch, maida/all purpose flour.
- Also, add ginger garlic paste, beaten egg, soy sauce, vinegar. Do not add egg in large quantity and just add a teaspoon or 2 teaspoons if it dominates with the egg smell.
- Mix all these ingredients thoroughly and marinate the chicken for about 20 minutes. Marination lets the flavors go deep into the chicken and taste well after frying.
Coating of the chicken
- Take each marinated chicken piece, coat each piece well with bread crumbs. Use white breadcrumbs which are easily available in stores or dry the white part of the bread and make a powder of it and store it airtight and use when required for coating purposes.
- Coat all the chicken pieces with bread crumbs and place them aside. Always coat all the pieces before deep frying and keep them ready. Do not coat one by one while frying.
Deep frying the chicken
- Heat oil for deep frying. Make sure it is not too hot. It should be hot enough to deep-fry.
- Drop each coated chicken piece into the oil one by one.
- Deep fry the chicken pieces on low flame for about 8-10 minutes until they turn a golden red colour.
- Switch off the flame.
- Take the fried chicken pieces out and place them on tissue paper.
- Serve the chicken popcorn with ketchup.

- 2 tablespoon maida/all purpose flour

- 1 beaten egg
- 1 teaspoon soya sauce
- ½ teaspoon vinegar
- 2 cups of dried bread crumbs
