Ginger water is a healthy weight loss drink recipe and in this post, I shall be revealing ginger benefits and why this amazing kitchen ingredient can aid in improving some of our health conditions as well as helps in controlling weight and thus avoiding weight gain.

Benefits

  1. It helps in proper digestion and therefore helps in preventing constipation.
  2.  It is mainly used in cooking and a common kitchen ingredient for various recipes.

About ginger root

Ginger looks similar to turmeric chunks but different in color. They appear slightly brown in color and is a very powerful spice with many uses since ages.

Ginger can be changed to many forms such as its powdered form is quite common where the ginger is dried and powdered and stored for a long time and used in many recipes to give warmth to the body.

Ginger oil is available as well as fresh ginger is directly used as it cures many illnesses. In India ginger paste is commonly used in almost all curries and recipes along with garlic paste as they give delicious flavors to every dish made.

I would suggest to consult a doctor before starting to use this drink on a regular basis. This is a very healthy drink and each ingredient in this drink acts wonders for losing weight.

Following just a proper diet does not help in weight loss but also exercising and eating small meals and a healthy diet works wonders in quick weight loss.

Ginger is one such ingredient that is available everywhere and is a very common ingredient found in Indian kitchens.

Other benefits

Since ginger aids in digestion and lowers cholesterol levels, this is the perfect ingredient to use in a weight loss drink.

Ginger is also beneficial in controlling hunger pangs and if hunger increases we tend to overeat thus increasing our weight.

Step by step procedure

  • In a saucepan, add a glass of water.

  • Add ginger pieces to the water. Add small pieces of ginger or grate ginger and add. Opting any way is fine.

  • Once the water boils, let it simmer for 5 minutes or until the ginger flavour is absorbed into the water.

  • Switch off the flame. Allow it to attain a lukewarm temperature.

  • Strain the ginger water.

  • Add a teaspoon of honey and stir well.

Ingredients
  

  • 10-12 small pieces of ginger ginger peeled and cut into small pieces
  • 1 glass of water
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon lemon

Storing

The ginger tends to rot quickly and spoils easily. To keep it fresh after cutting or peeling store it airtight in freezers which lasts long for days and sometimes up to months.

If stored in the refrigerator after peeling then it lasts only for a couple of days and spoils after a few days even if stored airtight. If storing in the fridge section, then use it within a few days as it can rot quickly.

If made as paste and store in ice cube trays in freezer then it lasts for months.

          The drink can be lukewarm...Hot drink is hard to consume...
          The drink works wonders only if one does rigorous exercise and follows a proper healthy balanced diet...

            make sure it is not too hot...you can drink it weekly twice or thrice in winters...
            it is better to seek a doctor if there are any health issues before drinking.

      Yes you can make it in advance but do not refrigerate for a long time... Refrigerate it only for few days as fresh ginger water could be more effective and if you are using refrigerated ginger water then, do give a slight lukewarm boil before using it...

      Stevia is just a natural sweetener herb with low calories... I suppose Honey could be more effective than stevia...

    I learned that the great stuff in ginger dies when you boils it. I tried this drink for 3 months because I was told it also helps for arthristis but it didnt help I did like the drink but not doing anything for

      it is not spicy but if ginger is too strong in flavor u can feel the spice touch slightly...u can add more honey if it is too strong...

      Results are not immediate and we need to be a bit patient in order to get the desired results but we also need to work out a bit as well with good exercises... yes I do have a facebook page and it is with the name yummy indian kitchen on fb...

    I was diagnosed with fatty liver disease, I started consuming this drink a month ago have lost weight and bolting of my stomach without any medication or exercise this works well for people who suffer from gas related issues too. It an awesome alternative to coffee or tea in the morning.

      boiling for 4 hours is definitely not recommended as it loses all the essential nutrients due to over boiling...
